DEFINITION
- Maladie fongique causée par un champignon ascomycète (Cryphonectria parasitica). La maladie est également appelée endothiose. Le champignon commence à se développer dans le phloème, puis atteint le bois. L’infection génère une réaction cicatricielle de l’arbre qui conduit progressivement à la formation d’un chancre qui provoque des dépérissements graves pouvant entraîner la mort de l'arbre hôte.
